Frost & Sullivan Releases the "Embodied Sensors: The Perception Foundation of Intelligent Robots"

Embodied intelligent robots are moving beyond repetitive execution in structured environments toward autonomous perception and compliant operation in the physical world. Embodied sensors provide proprioceptive, exteroceptive, force and tactile feedback on internal states, surrounding environments and physical contact. Among them, six-axis force/torque sensors simultaneously measure three-dimensional forces and torques, filling a critical information gap that vision, encoders and single-axis sensing cannot fully address. They provide essential closed-loop inputs for precision assembly, dexterous manipulation, dynamic balance and safe human-robot interaction.

Industrializing six-axis force/torque sensors is not a competition based on a single accuracy metric. It requires a coordinated capability stack spanning elastic-structure design, cross-axis decoupling, six-axis calibration, signal processing, precision manufacturing and batch consistency. As humanoid, collaborative, industrial and medical robots move through scenario validation, competition is shifting from basic product availability and price-delivery advantages toward accuracy, overload capacity, long-term stability and scalable supply. Supported by a large robot application base and a broad supply chain, China is becoming an important market for engineering validation and technology iteration.

Looking ahead, real-world training programs for embodied intelligence, stronger component standards and expanding multimodal datasets are expected to support further industry development. The role of six-axis force/torque sensors may extend from standalone measurement hardware to a combination of sensing device, data interface and control-model input, providing a foundation for reliable decision-making, precise control and scaled robot deployment. By examining sensing architectures, technical barriers, industry competition and application scenarios, the report offers a structured reference for understanding the development path of embodied sensing and force perception.
